MAME
It lets you play a plethora of games on your PC, regardless of the technology used, making them more compatible with each new version.
If you install a front-end, you will need to use the command line or the program's basic menu once you get to the game, from which you can also see the contents of the ROM folder (where games are included). The basic MAME download does not include any kind of graphical user interface (GUI). Finding an external management tool like Mame Plus or Mame 32 to navigate your game collection is the best option.
Controls can be set up, games can be saved, and graphics settings can be changed to add post-processing filters using the emulator.
